A bit of an experiment - this is an attempt to develop knowledge and kalyana mitrata (spiritual friendship) through social gatherings and friendly chats. There is already a great Buddhist Centre in Cambridge, which is perfect for learning to meditate and studying the dharma with a teacher, so there's no need to try and duplicate that... this is more about discussing meditation, discussing the dharma, amongst peers. My hope that it enables the kind of conversation and bonding that you would have …

In the style of meditation we teach and practise, you learn to let go of thoughts in order to stay present moment by moment. Through Meetup, I've been having some great discussions with people interested in all kinds of meditative practices - into which I've chipped bits of my knowledge and experiences of Nichiren Buddhism, which I've practised for many years under the lay 'sangha' of Soka Gakkai International UK. Whilst SGI-UK discussions on this very dynamic form of Buddhism take place in all London neighbourhoods, I'm regularly involved in a rolling series of well-attended public introductory talks at the London Ik …

Aryavachin, Sanghanath and myself (Yogaratna) wish to bring people together who are interested in how spiritual practice might respond to global concerns such as the environment and social injustice. Our aim is to promote cross-fertilisation (through sharing our ideas and experiences), inspiration and encouragement. We are Buddhists, but you don't have to be one to come along, we're interested in dialogue.

One doesn't has to be a Buddhist to seek an intellectual understanding of the Dharma (Buddha's teaching) or to benefit from its wisdom through practising its values and applying its perspectives in our daily modern stressful lives. This discussion group aspires to create a casual social setting in which the like-minded individuals can explore and share their understandings of Dharma in a neutral, secular, universal, non religious, practical and intellectual context. The hope is that this will re …
